Akepiro Studios are tucked away next to the railway lines in Kingsland. They were formed in 2008 by artist Evan Woodruffe, and are one of the few studios operating in Auckland's inner suburbs, occupying the lower level of a light industrial building.
Akepiro Studios provide workspaces for thirteen artists, mostly painters and those making small-scale sculpture. The studios are open-plan and utilitarian: concrete floors speckled with paint, plenty of white walls, and the quiet hum of a creative atmosphere.
